With the QuerySurge 9.2 release, both Named User Licensing and Floating User Licensing are offered. (All user licensing prior to version 9.2 uses Named User Licensing only.) Following is a description of each of these licensing options, along with other pertinent details.
Your QuerySurge License
Your license specifies a total number of "Full" user seats (user logins that may have any user role on a project), a total number of "Participant" user seats (user logins that may only have a Participant role on a project), and a total number of "Global Admin Only" seats (user logins that only have access to the Global Admin portal). In a Named User License, these totals are the total number of users of each type that can be created. In a Floating User License, these totals are the total number of users of each type that can concurrently log into QuerySurge.
Named User Licensing
- "Named User Licensing" means you can create users up to the specified number of Full, Participant and Global Admin Only user seats in your license.
- Named Users may be assigned to as many projects as are desired - there is no project assignment limitation.
- Named Users are assigned to project roles; user login behavior is as follows:
- The number of Project Admin user + Project Standard logins cannot be greater than the number of Full user seats in your license.
- The number of Project Participant logins cannot be greater than the number of Participant user seats in your license.
- The number of Global Admin users logins be greater than the number of Global Admin user seats in your license.
- License "Accounting"
- The license level consumed is based on the role assignments for a given user. This determination is outlined below in “License Consumption Rules”
Floating User Licensing
- "Floating User Licensing" means you can create Full users, Participant users, or Global Admin users without limit.
- Floating Users may be assigned to as many projects as are desired - there is no project assignment limitation.
- Floating User licensing specifies a maximum number of concurrent logins for each user type (Full User logins, Participant User logins, and Global Admin user logins).
- License "Accounting"
- The license level consumed is based on the role assignments for a given user. This determination is outlined below in “License Consumption Rules”
License Consumption Rules
When adding users and assigning their projects, the following license consumption and assignment rules control the license accounting:
- A Licensed User without any projects assigned consumes one Participant User seat, or if no Participant seats remain, a Full User seat
- A Licensed User only assigned to Projects as a Participant User consumes one Participant User seat, or if no Participant seats remain, a Full User seat
- A Licensed User assigned to one or more Projects as a Project Admin or Standard User consumes one Full User Seat
- The maximum allowed total number of Licensed users is the number of Full User seats plus Participant User seats in your license
- The maximum allowed number of users added with the Project Admin and Standard User roles to one or more projects is the number of Full User seats in your license
- A Global Admin Only user consumes one Global Admin Only seat
- The maximum allowed number of Global Admin Only users is the number of Global Admin Only seats in your license
Exclusions
- Named User Licensing and Floating User Licensing may not be combined in a single QuerySurge instance.
- Floating User Licensing is on a per-instance basis; therefore, users may not float between QuerySurge instances.
