Creating New Users
- Log into QuerySurge Global Administration Portal as a Global Admin user.
- Navigate to QuerySurge Administration > Users. (Note: User Licensing Summary is available at the bottom of the user screen. This summary shows available user licenses in your environment.)
- Press the Add button. The Add User Wizard appears.
- Click Next to proceed. Global Role selection appears.
- Choose a Global Role for the user, and click Next. See the article on Users and Roles for more about the available Global Roles.
- Enter User Profile details, and click Next.
First Name: First Name of the user to be created. This name will be visible in the UI.
Last Name: Last Name of the user to be created. This name will be visible in the UI.
Phone (Optional): Informational contact field for users phone number.
E-mail (Optional): Email for user. Used for notifications. - Enter Security details for the user:
- When LDAP authentication is not in use, enter and confirm a Username and Password.
Username: Username which will be used when logging into QuerySurge
Password: Password for account
Confirm Password: Password for account - When LDAP authentication is enabled, enter a Username. If applicable, check Override Default LDAP Settings and enter the necessary values for the new user (see the linked article for details).
Username: Username which will be used when logging into QuerySurge. This username must be the same, as the users LDAP account.
- When LDAP authentication is not in use, enter and confirm a Username and Password.
- Click Next. If the Global Role selected earlier was a Licensed role (Licensed Global Admin or Licensed User), User Project selection will appear. For a Global Admin Only user, this step will be skipped.
- Optional: Select Projects that this user will have access to. (These selections may be changed at any time after the user is created.) Repeat these steps for each Project:
- Click Add Project
- Select the Project Name
- Select the Project Role
- Click Next.
- Review the details of the new user. If all details appear correct, click Save.
Editing a User
- Log into QuerySurge Global Administration Portal as a Global Admin user.
- Navigate to QuerySurge Administration > Users.
- Select the user to be edited, and click Edit (or double click the user in the list). The Edit User window will appear.
- On the General tab, modify the user's First Name, Last Name, Phone, and E-mail.
- On the Security tab, modify the user's Global Role, Username, and authentication settings:
- When LDAP authentication is not in use, enter and confirm a Password. (If not modifying the password, leave both fields blank.)
- When LDAP authentication is enabled, and if overrides are applicable, check Override Default LDAP Settings and enter the necessary values for the new user (see the linked article for details).
- When SSO authentication is enabled, and if alterative logins are needed, check Enable Alternative Login and enter the necessary values for the new user
- When LDAP authentication is not in use, enter and confirm a Password. (If not modifying the password, leave both fields blank.)
- On the Projects tab, add or remove Project assignments for the user, and/or change the user's Project Role for any assigned Projects.
Note: A Global Admin Only user may not be assigned to any Projects; the Projects tab will be unavailable for Global Admin Only users.
Note: A user may not be added to, removed from, or have the Project Role changed for any Projects that are currently locked. To edit a user's assignments for locked Projects, unlock the Projects first. (Assignments for disabled Projects can still be edited at any time.) - When finished editing, click Save.
Deleting a User
When deleting a QuerySurge user, the user will no longer be able to log in and all Project assignments will be deleted; however, all assets created by the user will remain intact.
- Log into QuerySurge Global Administration as a Global Admin user.
- Navigate to QuerySurge Administration > Users.
- Select the user to be edited, and click Remove.
- Click OK to confirm removal of the user.
